A 3-Card Easter Tarot Spread

By Tarot Master and Reiki Master Teacher Helen Renée Wuorio

Easter is a time rich with symbolism. It is associated with renewal, rebirth, hope, and the quiet promise that light returns after darkness. For many people, it holds religious meaning, celebrating resurrection and spiritual renewal. For others, it represents the arrival of spring, when the natural world awakens again after the stillness of winter. Either way, Easter carries powerful themes of transformation and new beginnings.

Tarot is an ideal tool for reflecting on these ideas. Just as nature begins to blossom again, a tarot reading at Easter can help us recognise where growth is taking place in our own lives. A simple three-card spread works particularly well because it mirrors the rhythm of change: what has ended, what is awakening now, and what new life may soon emerge.

This Easter three-card tarot spread is designed to be gentle, reflective, and uplifting. It can be used by beginners and experienced readers alike and takes only a few moments to perform.

Preparing for the Reading

You can either use the special 3-card spread I drew or produce your own. If you choose to draw your own cards, take a moment before drawing to create a calm atmosphere. You might sit somewhere quiet, light a candle, or place a small symbol of spring nearby, such as flowers, an egg, or something green. These small touches help align the reading with the season's energy.

Hold your tarot deck and take a few steady breaths. While shuffling the cards, think about the theme of renewal in your own life. Consider what may be ending, what is changing, and what hopes you have for the months ahead. When you feel ready, draw three cards and lay them out from left to right.

Card One – What Is Being Released

The first card represents what you are leaving behind. Just as winter must end before spring can fully arrive, this card reflects something in your life that has completed its purpose.

This may represent an old habit, a belief, a difficult experience, or even a chapter of life that is naturally coming to a close. Seeing this card can be surprisingly comforting because it often reminds us that letting go is not a loss but part of a natural cycle. Like the soil preparing itself for new seeds, releasing the past creates space for fresh beginnings.

Card Two – What Is Awakening

The second card reflects the energy that is beginning to grow in your life right now. Think of this as the early signs of spring appearing after a long winter.

This card may reveal a new idea, a shift in perspective, a relationship developing, or a new opportunity beginning to take shape. Sometimes the message is subtle, showing something small that may become important later. Easter reminds us that transformation often begins quietly before it becomes visible to the world.

Card Three – The Promise Ahead

The third card represents the promise that lies ahead if the current energy continues to develop. In the spirit of Easter, this card symbolises rebirth and possibility.

Rather than predicting a fixed outcome, it highlights the direction your path may be moving toward. It may point to growth, healing, creativity, or a renewed sense of purpose. Many people find this card especially encouraging, as it reminds them that every ending eventually leads to a new beginning.

Once you have looked at all three cards together, take a few moments to reflect on how they connect. Easter invites us to recognise cycles in both nature and our personal lives. The tarot simply provides a symbolic language through which these cycles can be understood more clearly.

A three-card Easter spread offers a gentle reminder that transformation is always possible. Just as the earth renews itself each spring, our own lives also contain endless opportunities for growth, renewal, and fresh beginnings.
